"Dedicating ourselves heart and soul to the same causes for people and the world," the school motto of Tongji University, was the beginning citation.

"It is a great breakthrough and historical development opportunity for the over 100-year-old Tongji to cooperate with ESCP," said Jiang. "ESCP is one of the leading business schools in Europe, while Tongji University SEM is one of the best business schools in China. The cooperation between Tongji University and ESCP puts forward the strategic step of globalization for both parties."

"The cooperation between Tongji and ESCP, which has established a platform for Oriental and European entrepreneurs to communicate and learn together, has set a paradigm for deep cooperation between East Asia and European business schools," Huo said. "It is also another great leap in the internationalization process of Tongji SEM, which thus has become the first business school in the Chinese mainland to break into the hinterland of Europe."

Tongji University is one of most prestigious in China, with more than 100 years' history since its establishment in 1907. Tongji University started its programs in economics and management in 1956, and was one of the earliest universities in China to launch such majors. The School of Economic Management was founded in 1984, and merged with the Business School to become the School of Economics and Management in 1998. SEM has established collaborative partnerships with over 50 renowned business schools and universities in 15 countries and regions in areas that include faculty exchanges, scientific research and student exchanges. SEM has had many achievements in its international growth and disciplinary development. SEM is now an official member of EFMD and AACSB. In 2011, SEM ranked seventh in the Excellent Business School, China and among the global 1,000 best business schools, according to Eduniversal - an authoritative business school ranking institution in Europe.

Founded in 1819, ESCP Europe is the oldest business school in the world and has been regarded as one of the best business schools in Europe. It is ranked in France as one of the top three business schools. Its Master in Management Program is always ranked among the top three in the world. The school is one of only a few in the world to be triple-crown accredited (EQUIS, AMBA, AACSB). Forty years ago, ESCP Europe became the first to offer multi-country, cross-border business degrees. It now does so across its six urban campuses in Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid and Torino, and now the joint campus at Tongji University. For nearly 200 years since its founding, it has cultivated a vast array of celebrities in European political and business circles, such as the former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, President of TOTAL Christophe de Margerie, President of Herm├Ęs Patrick Thomas, French Minister of Agriculture and Fishing Michel Barnier, and President of Chivas Regal Christian Porta. The launching of Tongji-ESCP Executive MBA will contribute more elite business leaders in Asia to this name list.

The landing of Tongji-ESCP Executive MBA in Shanghai has symbolized that the globalization era of EMBA is coming - six transnational campuses, five trans-continental international seminars, over 40,000 alumni and nearly 100 participants from more than 150 countries. With its excellent faculty around the world, scientific curriculum arrangement, and multi-field and transnational interaction, this program has provided a quality platform for those outstanding business talents, who are located in East Asia while looking for international development.

Today we are in a global business environment. Future business leaders need to be equipped with international perspective and global concepts. After finishing the compulsory courses in Shanghai, participants will go to France, Germany, Belgium, the US, Brazil or India for international seminars. By connecting to alumni networks from ESCP Europe and Tongji University, the participants will be able to establish a globalized business network all over the world.
