Chinese tourist drowns in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, July 24-- A Chinese tourist drowned while swimming off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, while another woman was saved but is in critical condition, local media reported on Thursday.

The deceased, a 54 year old man and the woman were part of a group of 16 tourists, who were sea bathing along the scenic Dikwella coastline in Sri Lanka.

The woman who was rescued was taken to the Matara Hospital where she is reported to be in critical condition.

The Dikwella police are conducting investigations, local newspaper Dailymirror reported.

Chinese Embassy to Sri Lanka immediately offered assistance to the effected Chinese citizen after get information and reminded Chinese tourist to be careful to participate in water activities during their tour in Sri Lanka.
